I was excited to learn we had several thousand unique hits last week. It made me write this note.
If your gainfully employed with a roof over your head and your bills are paid, that is just terrific.. Please count your blessings.
There remains too many good Loss Prevention executives out of work that need help getting back on their feet. You may not have an open job currently, but I encourage you to review open positions in your company outside of Loss Prevention. We all know that a good Loss Prevention executive is someone who understands operational excellence and getting results. Both of these skills would be valuable in a variety of roles within retail.
Tomorrow- Please take a minute and call one of our Loss Prevention executives who are not yet employed and offer them encouragement and truly see if you may be able to help them land a job….
When your out of work and have few leads it is a very scary time. I have been there and would not wish it on anyone.
Have a great week…….

Nice note Paul. Feel free to direct folks my way if they’d like some coaching. I’m also doing outplacement/transition work with two colleagues – Joe Eastman Associates. We break the rule about being able to get only two out of better, faster, cheaper. We deliver on all of those at the same time.
Cheers,
Steve

PAUL, THANK YOU FOR MAKING A VERY VALID POINT THAT I HAVE PREVIOUSLY PASSED ON TO FRIENDS IN OUR INDUSTRY. SALES ARE DOWN, PROFITS ARE DOWN, MARGINS ARE SHRINKING AND MANY VERY GOOD LP PROFESSIONALS ARE OUT OF WORK. THE SKILL SET A GOOD LP PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPS IS TRANSPORTABLE BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF LP. WE ALL NEED TO HELP OUR NEXT GENERATION GROW. AS WE ALL KNOW MOST JOBS ARE BETTER FOUND BY WORD OF MOUTH AND CONTACT DIRECT WITH AN INDIVIDUAL BEFORE IT HITS THE JOB BOARDS AND WEB SITES. I HAVE BEEN IN PAUL’S SHOES TWICE IT IS NOT FUN, YOU FEEL DEPRESSED, REJECTED, AND BEAT YOURSELF UP FOR WHAT “YOU DID WRONG” , WHEN IN MANY CASES IT IS JUST A BOTTOM LINE DECISION AND WE HAVE TO LEARN TO WORK WITH SMALLER STAFFS AND DO MORE WORK. THE BIGGEST THING I LEARNED WAS WHO WAS YOUR FRIEND AND WHO STOPPED CALLING. NO OFFENSE TO MY VENDOR FRIENDS, BUT MANY STOP CALLING BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE BUYING POWER ANY LONGER……BUT SOMEDAY YOU WILL AGAIN…..AND THAT IS WHEN YOU SHOULD REMEMBER YOUR FRIENDS. LP ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DESK IS A CLOSE KNIT COMMUNITY AND WE ALL NEED TO HELP EACH OTHER .
JUST ONE MAN’S OPINION. TIMES ARE TOUGH LETS ALL CHIP IN AND TRY TO HELP OUT THOSE OF US WHO ARE UNFORTUNATELY OUT OF WORK. REGARDS TO ALL, TOM NELSON
